"Sprite" (a.k.a. "Teva") -- adopted September 2008
"Sprite (formerly Teva) has been with us for over nine months now; it's hard to believe! It didn't take her long at all to wiggle her way into our hearts. Thanks to Tonya and all the wonderful folks at WBCR, we now have the dog that was meant for us.
Sprite was pretty fearful when she came to us; she didn't want anyone she didn't know touching her (especially men). I started taking her to agility trials and became an expert at the "Pocketful of treats/Please feed my dog" routine! It was so rewarding to see Sprite come out of her shell bit by bit. She quickly realized that strangers meant FOOD, and FOOD is her favorite four-letter word. From one trial to the next (and sometimes even from morning to afternoon!), friends commented on how she was improving. Within a few visits, she started to favor a chosen few with a climb on their lap or a game of tug! My favorite comment was: "I really love my own Border Collie, but I would take this dog in a heartbeat!"
Sprite will be starting agility training this summer. I have this distinct feeling that she is going to be one wicked fast dog! There is absolutely no fear in her, either - when she has been on baby equipment, her attitude is totally "That was fun! What's next?" At home, she has learned that cats really aren't play toys, but she still has to try once in a while; our other dogs see her as their "bratty little sister," but she can get one of them to play tug with her on occasion. Tiny and quirky and full of herself, that's our SkyeSong's Wee Sprite. Miss Sprite, we sure do love you!"
